Except as otherwise provided in individual rate items,
Carrier will accept goods for transportation in Flatrack
Containers subject to the conditions specified in
Paragraphs A, B and C below.
A. When cargo is loaded on a Flatrack Container by
Shipper, the Shipper shall secure cargo to the
container in a manner acceptable to Carrier and except
for sealing, Rule 886 shall apply. Shipper shall
protect goods with suitable protective materials, Rule
882 (Overflow) will not apply; each Flatrack or Flatbed
Container will be rated as a separate shipment.
A piece or package exceeding 38'11" in length may be
loaded to a 40' flatrack container or a piece or
package exceeding 44'5" in length may be loaded to a
45' flatrack container if, as loaded, such piece or
package does not extend beyond the perimeter of the
equipment.
B. When cargo received at the CFS does not require
carriage in closed containers, Carrier may, at its
option, transport such cargo in Flatrack containers.
C. Except where rates for specific cargo sizes are given,
rates for flats only apply where cargo, and
dunnage/supporting materials, does not exceed the
dimensions of the flat. These dimensions are 38'11"
long, 7'10" wide and 6'6" high on a 40' flatrack
container and 44'5" long, 7'10" wide and 7'7" high on a
45' flatrack container.
